Pyramid Salt Flakes Harvested for the World

Our Story

We are proud to be hand-harvesting our gourmet, pyramid salt flakes in the coastal town of Maldon since 1882. Skilful hands are poised over every batch made, the same traditional artisan methods used for over century. To understand more about the magic of our salt flakes, watch our video.

MASTER SALT MAKERS

Four generations of the Osborne family have been hand harvesting the naturally
formed salt flakes that have become Maldon’s signature for a century. Today, we’re not just custodians of an ancient culinary tradition but also creators of a brand that’s recognised the world over.

HAND CRAFTED IN SMALL BATCHES

Maldon salt is made like no other, there’s an art in temperature and timing. A slow warmth uncovering the water’s secret, with skilled hands poised over every batch. Traditional methods and time honoured techniques passed down through the centuries make Maldon’s pyramid salt flakes unique.

How to store Maldon sea salt flakes?

We recommend storing Maldon Salt in a cool, dry place. Containers such as a salt pig would be the ideal storage for your countertop, making it convenient to spoon or pinch over to your dishes.

This has to top any list. There are other magnificent salts from the UK, and so many wonderful salts from around the world, but I couldn’t cook without Maldon. I love its mellow saltiness and the softness of its flakes. And I can’t eat without it, either: I always have a pinch pot of Maldon in my purse

Nigella Lawson Food writer and cook

I simply cannot cook or prepare food without using Maldon Sea Salt. I’ve tasted different salts from around the world and not a single one matches the flavour. It’s the one simple ingredient I really cannot live without.
